The Association has identified the need to develop Introduction to WPTW training for Work Party Members that may be new to the Industry. These personnel will not typically be involved in a supervisory role but would benefit from understanding the Wellsite Permit to Work System before being deployed to remote sites.
The current entry level training is Wellsite Permit Holder (WPH).
The WPH is tasked with supervising all work that is conducted under the Wellsite Permit to Work issued to them. They have a range of responsibilities to ensure that all conditions of the Permit are both implemented and maintained during work activities and ensuring that Work Party Members comply with all Permit requirements.
There were a couple of opportunities identified in our recent review of WPTW Training:
- Introducing Work Party Member training would satisfy any requirement for all personnel on site to have been trained in the use of the Wellsite System;
- This level of training would confirm that trainees were not able to supervise others until they had the necessary work experience and had completed the higher level (WPH) training.
Like our other training, the Introduction to WPTW course will be available online to maximise to optimise the time commitment for trainees. The course will be provided free to Member Company employees.
The course will take about 20 minutes to complete and will cover:
- The Oil and Gas Industry
- The Work Environment
- The WPTW System
- Responsibilities of a Work Party Member
Introduction to WPTW is designed to explain how Wellsite has been developed by the Industry to keep people safe on site. This industry works hard to make workplaces safe and efficient, and to ensure that everyone on site understands what’s going on.
Providing this training to Work Party Members is another example of the Association’s ongoing commitment to the Industry.
