On behalf of the Board of the Wellsite Permit to Work (WPTW) Association Inc. I am proud to announce that this year marks the 10th anniversary of the Association and I would like to acknowledge the achievements of the Association.
10 years ago we assured our Members that we would be providing them with a world class permit to work system in which they could have confidence. That commitment ensures our Members continue to realise the benefits of the System even as the Industry, technology, and the world we live in change at an astounding pace.
Our anniversary also provides an opportunity to reflect on the success of the WPTW Association model as a platform for constructive Industry collaboration. The original WPTW System was a modified version of a Production Permit to Work system tailored for wellsite use by Santos, Origin Energy, OD&E and Century Drilling in the mid-1990s. The subsequent System enhancements were facilitated through the collaboration of many Industry participants with involvement in all aspects of onshore oil and gas exploration, extraction and production. Through this collaboration, the Wellsite System evolved to consolidate an approach into a single comprehensive system that most importantly expanded its coverage until it was suitable for use across all onshore Australian wellsite work in what would become known as Revision 3.
Wellsite Digital and its Digital Administration System (DAS) represent a continuation of that relationship and the great success of this collaboration with Members and individual System Users. That process has seen the transformation of a trusted and proven paper-based system into a world class digital system which currently is in use through the first of the roll-out phases by an expanding number of Members that make up about 60% of the industry, and is planned to progressively extend to cover the remaining Members through the remainder of 2021 and early 2022. This has all been made possible through the support of our user acceptance testing partners and their commitment to ensuring this System warrants the trust and confidence placed in it.
