The Wellsite Permit to Work (WPTW) process is used to identify the scope of a specific task, where the work is allocated and what equipment is being worked on.
The Wellsite Permit Authority can assure that a work scope is safe to proceed, by:
- Verifying the permit matches the intended work scope with the Operating Company Representative (OCR) reviewing all other concurrent and planned work activities
- Reviewing that the Job Safety Analysis or Standard Operating Procedure is accurate for the scope of work
- Verifying isolations and work precautions are effective for the permit scope
- Unless you verify the work precautions yourself, having a conversation with the Work Precautions Verifier to ensure the verification process has been adequately understood and conducted and that all agreed control measures are in place
- Confirming that all Work Party members fully understand the scope of the task
- Confirming that only work covered within the permit scope takes place
- Reviewing the permit for alteration if the scope of work changes
Remember – recognise any changes in the work scope and amend the Permit and communicate to the Work Party.
